No form of help is foreign to the Society. This includes any form of help that alleviates suffering or deprivation and promotes human dignity and personal integrity.

Rule 1.3 of the Society

The Society of St Vincent de Paul (Vinnies) is a non-profit organisation whose work primarily involves person-to-person contact with people who have a variety of needs.

The Society seeks to promote self-sufficiency, enabling people to help themselves. Any assistance offered is given in a non-judgemental spirit of compassion, based on the needs of the individual or family.

You may already know that St Vincent de Paul (Vinnies) operates Op Shops where fantastic bargains can be found. What you may not realise is that all profits from our Op Shops are used to support people in need throughout the Bay of Plenty. We have shops in Tauranga, Greerton, Mount Maunganui, Whakatāne, and Rotorua.

Many people need support at some time in their lives to help manage life’s challenges. Support provided by the Society is practical, useful, respectful, and non-judgemental. We work closely with other organisations to provide holistic assistance, including Budget Advice, Plunket, and Social Work Services.
